FAQ: General

What is the difference between 2 Across and 2 Across LE?
2 Across LE is free, and is designed to let you try out the app before buying it. It has all of the same features as the full 2 Across, but offers a quite limited selection of puzzles.

How do I get crossword puzzles?
Press the '+' button at the bottom of the main screen to bring up the list of puzzle sources. Choose a source, choose a date, and press 'Download'.

Do I have to be online to use 2 Across?
You have to be online to download a new puzzle, but once you have downloaded a puzzle it is saved on your iPhone/iPod and can be solved offline. Puzzles take up virtually no space, so store as many as you like for future use.

How do I write my answers?
Bring up the keyboard by tapping the pencil in the upper-right corner of the solving screen, or by double-tapping anywhere on the grid.

Which of the puzzles in version 1.2 are the easiest?
The "Quick" puzzles from Sydney Morning Herald are probably the easiest. The New York Times Monthly also features relatively easy puzzles.

I have an idea for an improvement to 2 Across.
I'd love to hear it. Send me an e-mail explaining the idea, and I'll try to incorporate it in the next update.

Who made 2 Across?
I did. My name is Eliza Block, and I'm a grad student in philosophy. I took up iPhone programming as a hobby, and wrote 2 Across because I wanted to solve crossword puzzles on my own iPhone. I hope you like it!

2 Across has made me so happy! How can I return the favor?
You could write a nice review on the iTunes App Store, or support my viral marketing campaign by 'becoming a fan' of 2 Across on Facebook.
